Winder Power Secures £9m NIE Networks Contract

Winder Power is delighted to announce that, following a recent tender process, it has been awarded a new five year contract with Northern Ireland Electricity Networks Limited (NIE Networks) with a value that could exceed £9m.

The company has worked with NIE Networks since 2003 and is committed to delivering around 50, 33/11.5kV Primary Transformers over the period of the contract. All of the units will be for various substations in and around Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Commenting on the new contract, Winder Power General Manager Paul Matthews said; “We are very pleased to have won this new tender award, which allows us to continue our long-term relationship with NIE Networks. Over the years we have built up a very strong understanding of the business and its needs, and I am sure that this was apparent in our tender submission.”

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks) owns the electricity transmission and distribution network and operates the electricity distribution network which transports electricity to over 860,000 customers.

This latest contract continues Winder Power’s rapid growth over the last few years, with projected turnover for 2017/18 currently standing at £21m, up from £12m just three years ago.
